LBIC News Spring 2014: MedCity, Focus on Cogent, SynBioBeta
LBIC News Spring 2014 issue is now online featuring the Mayor Boris Johnson’s annoucement of a £4 million investment in MedCity, a Focus on Cogent Placements, an interview by Sally Waterman at Polytherics plus further news and successes from the centre. LBIC (The London Bioscience Innovation Centre) is based in the heart of MedCity, near Kings Cross and is a hub where many UK Biotech companies are based offering both office and laboratory space in a central London location.
The Mayor of London’s launch of MedCity is great news for the sector, with life sciences being hailed as a keystone of the future UK economy. LBIC’s location places the incubator at the heart of the action, and many of LBIC’s clients already have international reach as well as funding success. The newsletter examines some facts and figures about LBIC clients and they look in more detail at IXICO’s progress in the UK and China.
Driving the success of the life science sector are its key people, and the newsletter features Sally Waterman, VP at PolyTherics, who shares her thoughts on the industry, as well as Tony Gordon from Genesis Genetics, who details information about their new UK facility at LBIC. Pauline Maden at Cogent also writes about how their Industrial Placements Service can benefit companies plus there is also coverage from SynBioBeta London 2014, the leading annual Synthetic Biology conference that takes place at Imperial College London each year.
