Our Work, Imperial College

Marketing collateral to support client engagement

The Challenge

How can a renowned university department increase collaboration with industry?

Imperial College’s Centre for Synthetic Biology is home to the largest number of world-class synthetic biology academics in the UK. The Centre is focused on engineering new biological systems to solve global challenges such as climate change, food shortages and the emergence of drug-resistant bacteria.

Imperial’s commercial partnerships team wanted to expand collaboration with businesses and develop a pipeline of projects around the Centre’s work in artificial intelligence and other areas of scientific innovation.

Our approach

Working across departments, we developed a series of marketing activities to raise the profile of the Centre, encourage academics to engage with industry partners, foster new partnerships and increase the number of grant applications.

Our first step was to review content and messaging on the Centre for Synthetic Biology’s website so that information was presented in an easy-to-digest format. Content was optimised to ensure the Centre was ranked favourably by search engines, allowing the site to be easily found by people looking for information about synthetic biology.

attention-grabbing marketing collateral

We produced a brochure to highlight the relevance and importance of synthetic biology for the business community. The brochure included case studies of successful collaborations that are making a difference to society, and an infographic to highlight data and attention-grabbing facts.

The results

The Centre for Synthetic Biology’s commercial team have taken the brochure to networking events and meetings.  Alumni requested copies to share with clients, helping to spread the word about the Centre and the many ways in which it benefits society.

The team at Sciad contacted alumni and liaised with colleagues to create a marketing brochure.  They worked hard to ensure that everyone involved was delighted with the end result.
