Our approach to a fresh look and feel for Sciad Communications
When Sciad launched in 2008, letters in the company name reflected our founders’ backgrounds in ‘science and advertising’. Fast forward 15 years and Sciad now offers a range of PR and media relations, brand strategy and digital marketing services.
After a period of growth, 2023 felt like the perfect time to refresh Sciad’s visual identity.
What we did
We went through a rigorous identity review process to inform our internal creative brief
Our starting point was to define Sciad’s purpose, personality and values. The result of this review highlighted our ambition to help the scientific community, our passion for science and our collective strength and experience in marketing and storytelling.
We define ourselves as a team of scientists, communicators and designers with a passion for bringing innovation to life. Simply put, we make Sciad what it is.
We transformed our visual identity into something modern and fresh
Our designers created initial concepts experimenting with various styles and approaches, before landing on the current design, which we feel captures the traits we value: curiosity, collaboration, innovation and excellence. To help make our name easier to pronounce, we changed the letters in the logo to title case, and bought in our new strapline: ‘Bringing Innovation to Life’.

Our next challenge was to design a new company website
This was our first website content refresh in over five years and an opportunity to promote the full range of services Sciad offers. We brought through the design language and personality from the branding and focussed on producing repeatable visual systems that are not only engaging but also better showcase what we can do.
Showcasing our brand personalty through visual design
We sought to highlight the friendly aspect of our identity by showcasing individuals associated with the services we offer as personal call to action elements. We also
re-designed our team listing page to use the same coloured background circles, which helped to bring that page to life.
Creating updated marketing assets to match our new identity
The design principles used throughout the digital elements have been brought through to print pieces, including our business cards and roller banners, which will be used at networking events and conferences.
